Summarize

Using a Problem and Solution Map list the problem that Vera and Mario had and the steps they took to solve it.  Then use the information on the map to summarize the story.

Think and Compare

1. Look over the story.  What places do Vera and Mario visit while trying to solve the mystery?

2. Explain why you would or would not have picked up trash left by someone.

3.  Vera and Mario canvass the area to find out who may have left the trash.  How can asking questions help students with their school assignments?

A Different Ending

Skim over the story but stop at the end of page 14.  How else could this story have ended?  Write a new ending to The Trash Detectives.
