Summarize

Using a Character Web write as many words as you can that describe Louise.  Then use the information form your web to summarize the Girl Arranging Her Hair.

Think and Compare

1. What did Louise expect having a portrait painted in her likeness would be like?  What happened that was different then what she expected?  How did Louise feel?

2. Do you think you would like being a model for a painting?  What do you think would be good about it?  What might you not like about it?

3. What is it that some people like about paintings?  Do they need to look like real people?  Should they show familiar scenes in the paintings?

Be the Critic

Think of your favorite painting or picture.  It could be a drawing in an ad, a painting in a magazine, or a picture from this story.  Explain why you think it is a good painting or picture.  Tell why it catches your attention.  Tell why you like it better than other paintings or pictures.
